Matthew Trejo

Matt is an attorney with experience in intellectual property litigation and transactional matters, general civil litigation, and commercial arbitration and mediation.

Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked as an attorney at a mid-sized Bay Area defense law firm, where he defended his clients in a wide range of civil matters in federal and state court and before arbitral bodies. He also worked on various intellectual property and corporate matters, including complex trademark and copyright registrations, contract drafting and revising, entity formation and maintenance (both for-profit and nonprofit), enforcing clients’ intellectual property rights, and defending clients against infringement claims.

Matt started a record label shortly after high school, and the experience with the label inspired him to pursue a path as an attorney who serves musicians and the arts community. Matt has remained dedicated to that path. During law school, Matt earned a prestigious summer legal internship with music giant Pandora Media, Inc. Currently, Matt serves as a panel attorney for California Lawyers for the Arts, where he provides low-cost and pro-bono legal services to musicians, artists, entertainers, and small businesses.

Matt draws from his diverse combination of litigation and transactional experience to bring a high level of quality service to his clients at the firm. Matt defends clients in litigated matters such as intellectual property infringement, business disputes, breach of contract and trademark cancellation, and opposition proceedings. Matt also works with clients on the transactional side to help clients protect and exploit their intellectual property rights and navigate business risks.

Matt earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated in 2017 with a concentration in intellectual property. Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated in 2014 Phi Beta Kappa, with the highest honors in his major.
